Dear brothers and sisters,

WE ARE THE FIRST GENERATION THAT CAN ERADICATE MISERY! As people of faith exercising our ministry with the poor and marginalized and as followers of Saint Francis and Saint Clare, we have to show a particular commitment in working towards the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals.

As you we will see in the attached document, the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, and the Executive Coordinator for the Millennium Campaign, Eveline Herfenks, are calling upon us to reverberate the voice of the poor and to mobilize political leaders.

Franciscans International would like, therefore, to encourage you:

to print additional copies of the attached flyer and distribute it within your community / congregation / province,
to sign and have the people with whom you are most in contact sign as well The Friends of the Campaign Pledge so that the strong support of faith-based groups to the Millennium Development Goals can be heard by decision-making leaders at the United Nations.
